Frog Span
So, what is this phenomenon called "frog span/dots"? Your guess is as good as mine (you probably thought that after my long winded buildup, I actually had a clear-cut answer:). Per the title of this section (hypothesis: conjecture put forward to account for certain facts and used as a basis for further investigation by which it may be proved or disproved...Oxford American Dictionary), I can only describe "dots" to you and give you my thoughts upon it. In this way, you may recognize it as another clue towards your success at traveling. As I've stated before, I am trying to point out to you, my friends, the many common puzzle pieces of traveling. It's the ol', "you-too-can-be-an-expert-if ya-wanna" approach. The more you recognize about the event, the better prepared you are to control it!
Frog Span/Dots And How To Use It:
Tiny points of light varying in intensity and moving as one mass. The size of the total mass may vary in size but the dots always remain the same size. Its direction may be controlled by focused thought. The size and intensity of the mass increases as travel conditions become optimum. The dots may be "seen" either behind closed eyes OR with eyes open in the dark.
As you know from my online book, I harp upon the connection between physical body aspects and non-physical aspects that add up to the whole of the travel. Controlled nonphysical separation requires the physical to cooperate. This involves many steps from relaxation techniques to full blown "physical" sleep. Once this is accomplished, the non-physical aspects of controlled action and intent, may then, come into play. With regard to frog span/dots, I interpret the phenomenon as both a physical and nonphysical aspect. It seems to me, that if I may see these dots with my eyes open or closed, the event is likely occurring in my brain. Having said this, however, the dots, do indeed, mirror certain "characteristics" that may be observed while traveling. And so, in keeping with the name of this section, if you've experienced "dots" (or not) and have an opinion, you tell me what it is. For my part, I'll tell you how to use it.
It is not something you invoke or practice, but rather, an occasionally observed event prior to traveling. When it occurs, focus your complete attention upon the moving and rolling dots. Gently prod them to move in a direction you choose. Try to move them in a smooth arc rather than with jerky jumps from one spot to another. If you successfully concentrate on moving the dots, allowing yourself to be immersed in the task, after about ten to fifteen minutes, you will find yourself "prepped" to initiate a travel. You will have maintained an alert and focused intent and allowed the physical to reach the sleep edge, that is required for separation of the nonphysical.
With this in mind (and utilizing the very latest technology, ooh, ahhh), I have created for you, a subliminal-suggestion-theta-spatial-noise .wav file (whoa, hold on thar' Alan...and a "what the heck" (?) just for good measure). Simply stated (for as we know, I am a simpleton), I placed three command phrases on the .wav file and fixed 'em up to both hide them and enhance them, for your subconscious mind. The first command phrase is, "I will quack like a duck whenever I hear the word, doodle". The second command phrase is...(grinning)...had ya going , didn't I? Okay, here are the real stats:
The three command phrases are:
I travel beyond my body...I know when I dream...I know when I travel.
(Don't fret if the following part escapes you....it's just jargon junk explaining the process) These phrases have been "synced" through a level-12 intensity brown spatial-noise generator (it's much like white or pink noise, but I find brown a more relaxing tone). Next, an overlay brain-wave pattern was added. The overlay is generated in the 6-7 hz range, placing it in the theta range of your brain activity. This is a range that is excellent for deep relaxation, meditation, and increased memory and focus. The .wav was mastered at a sample rate of 22050 in 16 bit high quality stereo.
Now, comes your part. You download the file, suggest .wav (307562 bytes), to your hard drive and run it through the program you utilize to play .wav files (well, duh). Set the playback on loop, put on your headphones, adjust the volume and let it do its thing. Try to pick a relaxing time to play the .wav but it will work quite well even as you work or play at your computer (do not, under any circumstances, drive or operate heavy machinery while playing this .wav) (oh gee, and I was planning to go forklifting, yup, I was:). Don't bother with the difficulty of trying to discern the phrases. Trust me, they are there and your subconscious is learning them for later recall as you attempt to travel (you may even find that this .wav file works well, if played DURING your travel attempt). The file will sound similar to pleasing radio static (seems like a contradiction but it's not:) with a rolling effect.
For those of you without "loop" capabilities on your .wav player, I offer two suggestions. First, you could transfer the .wav to cassette by clicking .wav-play over and over until you have enough tape filled up for a session. This, however, can be time consuming as the .wav is only 3.5something seconds long. The more practical second suggestion, is to obtain a copy of Cool Edit. This program, although only shareware until you try and buy, will allow you to load the .wav file and select loop mode for playback (as well as do scads of other really COOL things).
