The Edge, My Edge

Cliff "Edge" Wagner is the most endearing, complex, and helpful person I have yet to meet on IRC. I found this background image while surfing the net, and had to use it for his page. He has a way of handling life - ON THE EDGE! I admire the way that he controls his life. No matter what Fate throws his way, Cliff manages to come out of it with an enlightened view-point.

He has an unusual love of "tar based" coffee. He claims to drink so much of it that he thinks it flows through his veins. He has even acquired a taste for New Orleans style coffee and chicory, which even born and raised New Orleanians still have a hard time swallowing.

As for our history together...

I have learned a lot from "THE EDGE" about many topics, including IRC, HTML, Bots, Scripts, and just plain having a great time on-line. The very first day I tried IRC I met him in #penpals. Yes, stupid "newbie" that I was, I thought the channel topic had something to do with its inhabitants.....WRONG. In any case, Edge pointed me in the right direction, his Web Page, and sent me on my way thinking he had gotten rid of another annoying "newbie". I printed out his home page information and studied it. Then went back for tutoring lessons and quickly found that he'd send me to a corner if I hadn't studied well enough.

We have become very close friends through IRC. We talk about everything to each other, ranging from the Internet Provider business to our "deep, dark secrets", and we are still friends. My students loved his poetry, he blushes at the image of my using him as a lesson plan. My students' favorite "Edge" poetry would have to be Telescopic View Through a Bedroom Window and The Edge.

As for our friendship...

We critique each other's work...mostly I complain about his grammar and spelling. We are painfully honest with each other in our critiques "No holds barred". We share a lot of interests besides IRC, a bot named "Snickers", and creating Web pages. We both love "TeddyBears", frisbee, billiards, lots of friends, a variety of music ranging from classical to country, coffee, recliners, food fights, romanticism, and even some of our favorite authors are the same.

I refer to my other IRC friends as my "Guardian Angels", Edge, on the other hand, is more like my "Guardian Devil". He is very protective, which I appreciate immensely. I have to admit I'm not an angel at all times while with Edge, then again....I'm never an angel at ALL times. I am honored that he is one of my "best" friends :)
