Jefferson Parish Hazardous Materials Unit

First established in 1981, the Jefferson Parish Hazardous Materials Unit has been a cooperative effort between the Department of Emergency Management and Jefferson Parish Fire Departments through the Jefferson Parish Presidents & Chiefs Association. Most of these fire departments have responders that are trained as Hazardous Materials Technicians. Our members come from all walks of life and include professional responders and volunteers. We have recently begun reaching out to include law enforcement and emergency medical agencies. Member skills are maintained through an "in-service" training system, refresher courses, and "on-line" opportunities.

Inside one can find training information & schedules, image galleries, information on Weapons of Mass Destruction and important links to other web resources. Where posted information contains confidential information ID numbers have been substituted for names.
