Hazardous Materials Training
Training is one of the most important issues for any Hazardous Materials Response Team. Code of Federal Regulations Title 29 (OSHA) section 1910.120, as well as the National Fire Protection Association Standard 472, have established the minimum training standards for anyone who aspires to become a Hazardous Materials Technician. Also covered in these standards and regulations are requirements for continuing education.
To meet these minimum standards the Samuel Lazzara Fire Training Center, along with the Hazardous Materials Unit of the Department of Emergency Management, offers training in several different formats to allow for maximum participation and schedule flexibility. These formats include classroom opportunities with flexible hours, redundant offerings at our sites or your location and third party on-line offerings. Eventually, locally developed on-line & interactive classes will be offered.
Attached to this page you will find Training schedules for Hazardous Materials & Weapons of Mass Destruction and a chart that will allow you to keep track of your continuing education (CE) hours. Please help us keep this chart and schedule up to date. Send information to bdarcey@jeffparish.net.
